Not my favorite things but I was at a campground 2 weekends ago and at dark (beyond dusk) this big guy started making a web. I now know what grabbed my head the night before when I came in when it was really dark. Sometimes I struggle with pics in broad daylight and here it is, almost dark and this lens will grab on to a spider. Some people came over to see what the crazy person was doing with all the flashing going off. I was about 8 feet away. Taken with the 70-300.

I took a lot, but as is not unusual, they looked a lot better on the camera LCD. I think I and the other campers were just in shock we could get any detail at all.

    3. A bit rude, but if you watch Spiderman...the web doesn't really come from the wrists. It really lit up with the flash??

Dave, I like furry things, but not these guys, especially if they are big enough for the camera to focus on . As long as they stay outside we're good!
    Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Eric and Sly. Yeah, in my world i thought that distance was pretty amazing. It must be a testament to the size of the critter. I tried to find out what kind he was but couldn't. Thought those marks on his abdomen might be a helpful identifier. Anyone knows, please post. I'm always curious about the things I come across.
