And how on earth did you manage to not completely blow out the bird, but still have a really nice looking dark water background?! Nice and crsip shot too. But critically, I'd say that there needs to be a tinsey bit more of the bird's face, imo.

I was kinda bummed that my D2H didn't arrive yesterday so I took the D70 out to the intercoastal. I've learned that underexposing egrets by around 3/4 of a stop is crucial in retaining any semblance of highlight detail in the light we have down here. I always shoot RAW anyways so if it's too dark I can adjust the exposure afterwards.
