Engagement photos?

I have a booking in 2 weeks to do a couple's engagement photos. This is my first engagement booking. Since this is going to be reproduced in a newspaper, are there any tips on making a photo newspaper friendly? I would image needing clean backgrounds, no cluttered leaves or things like that, but anything else?

That's a good question. I would think that you are on the right track by wanting to keep the background clean. Remember that it will most likely be printed in black & white, so similar colors or tones may blend together...don't shoot with a black background and black clothes etc.

I don't know how other people handle it, but here's how I do.
I take all kinds of shots. Some edgy, some crazy, some sexy, and some for Grandma.
My experience has been that they go with the Edgy for the reception photo, hide the sexy from mom-but treasure them, and Grandma's photo goes into the paper.
