Entry level flash/continuous light for Sony a7ii

Hi peeps,

My son has a Sony a7 ii and I'd like to get him a flash or continous light for it as a gift.

He is studying media at college, so more lielly to use it for video work than stills, but I'm wondering if there are any good units that will do both?

Don't want to break the bank on this, but equally don't want cheap Chinese trash.

Any suggestions would be fab, thanks.

Unfortunately there isn't a continuous light that will do both without spending a lot of $$$. Even then continuous light for still photography isn't ideal. A flash output is far greater than a continuous light, but it's only needed for a micro second.

Thank you. I guess that's what I feared.

Any recommendations for a continuous light then? I think hell use that more in the short term.

I use Godox SL-60's. They're a great light and Godox has become a pretty reliable brand (all my studio gear is Godox now). It's also a relatively inexpensive light.
