There is an EV scale in viewfinder on my D80. In P,A and S modes it shows current exposure compensation. But in M mode it starts going up and down. Cant figure out what it does. Anyone knows?

I don't have a D80, but I would guess that it is behaving like a manual exposure meter - showing you what it thinks is overexposure or underexposure.

    Best,

Ah yes yes. I changed it to central metering and surely enough it went up and down depending on brightness. Thanks!
