External microphone.......and go!!!!

So I want an external mic for my 60d. Just for screwing around takin videos of live jams, bands and vids of me recording drums. Stuff that's loud!!!!! Any recommendations for what to get. Not sure what's out there. But recommendations are appreciated. cheers people.

For the best quility mics go with rode mics, they will not have any noise if set up correctly, and they are really good overall. I have a cheapo microphone but it does the job for what I use it for. Its a polariod mic that cost me 40, the rode mics can go from 150 to 300 depending on the model. Cheap mics will not go well in live concerts, only in controlled environments will they give best audio.

As for the cheaper mics for bands, I will be doing a video project in mid march with my fathers live entertainment, so I will let you know first hand how the cheaper end models hold up in live shows.
