Fair price for Coolpix 5700 ?????

My uncle wants to sell me his Nikon Coolpix 5700 package. He has just about all the accessories with it ... couple of extra sticks and batteries, two converter lenses, thread adapters i think, bag and so forth.

He wants $600.00. and he will be upgrading to a Canon D20.

I know he takes maticulous care of all his equipment and I have seen the pics hes taken with the 5700 which are excellent.

But ..... I want to make the trasition to digital however, would I be better trying to go for a full SLR like the Digi Rebel???????

Is it a "fair" price? Can't answer that. Watching how this auction ends on eBay should give you some idea:

If it were I, I'd opt for a Nikon D70 or the Canon Rebel...

Id go for a digi SLR....far more control...and about the same price...
