Fan vaults

    These fan vaults, built around 1500 in the retrochoir of Peterborough Cathedral look very organic, like palms or toadstools growing up and spreading out until they meet. It's hard to imagine the how the medieval masons turned ordinary stone into something so beautiful.

    Can others edit my Photos:

    Nice texture & patterns & good exposure although I think it might have been better to have turned 90 deg to the left to put the 3 stained glass windows at the base of the photo & keep the symmetry too.
