"Metal" seems a little vague to me. I had a hard time deciding as well. Off the top of my head I would say "Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns" by Mother love Bone. "Swamped" by Lacuna Coil seems to fall into the heavy modern genre. "Live Wire" by Motley Crue may fall into the older pop genre.
