Someone started this on another forum I post on.

Making me go way back into the memories.

Personal faves..

Dire Straits - Money for Nothing
David Bowie - Space Oddity
Phil Collins - susudio
Madness - Our House

I just found a Torrent that i'm gonna download with the top 1000 songs of the last 20 years or so.

I found one for the Bill Board top 100 for the last 6 years and one for 250 best songs of the 90's.

It's really cool to go back on the years on the pod.

I'll give a nod to those tunes, and throw in some Crowded House for good measure!

yea i was into Dire Straits, they were decent.... and for me the 80's was all about;

Adam and the Ants
Ultravox
Michael Jackson
A-ha
Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Tears for Fears
Duran Duran
... and that dude... you know 'sledgehammer'... cant remember his name now...

aswell as this chart music there was all the rock stuff too like metallica, bon jovi, def leopard etc.... but with the exception of metallica most of it just sounds dated now.... but the chart stuff lives on!... we had a party around my mates flat the other day and had nothing but 80's chart music... it rawks!

My friend is having a 90's party soon. I'm gonna go and play all 80's and 90's music for her, they won't even know.

HA!

Peter Gabriel, quite good BTW. (In your eyes)

For me also, as groups:

-The Police, many of their songs, but Synchronicity II and King of Pain on top
-Dire Straits, Tunnel of love and Telegraph Road
-Simple Minds, Once upon a time, Alive and Kicking, All the Things She said
-U2 (almost everything)
-Bryan Adams
-REO speedwagon (some songs)
-Marillion

And as isolated songs:

-It's my life, Talk Talk
-I touch myself, Divinils
-Cuts you up, Peter Murphy (I think it's 80's)

Peter Gabriel. That song is brilliant. (sorry, didn't see it (G) K)

A friend of mine recently gave me a cd with 700 songs from the 80's. It's hilarious. Songs like 'word up' by Cameo, or The Heat is On by Glenn Frey. Don't forget Jan Hammer (MV theme), Marillion (Kayleigh) and Mel & Kim (Showing Out)....:mrgreen:.

(Peter Murphy, that's the 90's)

Really eh? I was born in 80. My parents listened to it all the time when I was a kid. I just assumed. HA. Learn something every day.

the music of their young

David Bowie 80’s hits I can recall are Modern Love, China Girl, & Let's Dance, also he did remake of Dancing In the Streets with Mick

I was a metal maniac in the 80s. Well, light metal.... Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Night ranger, Dokken, Great White, etc etc.

Not the only one by a long shot! I have tons of 80's metal faves...but...I'm terrible about remembering names/artists/ect, so I'm not gonna name em. ;P

Ditto on the metal! To add to the above...

Ronnie James Dio - "Last in Line"
Iron Maiden - a whole bunch of them! "Wrathchild", "The Trooper", "Aces High" ...
Deep Purple - "Perfect Strangers" (my first rock concert)
AC/DC - "Back in Black" (the whole friggin' album)

Some less metalish tunes:
Rainbow - "Street Of Dreams"
Asia - "Heat of the Moment"
Eurythmics - "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"
Blue Öyster Cult - "Burnin' For You"
"The Wall" misses inclusion by release date by 2 months, but boy was it played a lot in the 80's.
David Gilmour - "All Lovers Are Deranged"
Peter Gabriel - "Games Without Frontiers"
Devo - "Whip It"
M - "Popmuzik"
Marillion - "Kayleigh"
Men at Work - lots!
Men Without Hats - "The Safety Dance"
Styx - "Mr. Roboto"
Red Rider - "Lunatic Fringe"

And more obscure, but very 80's to me:
Chris de Burgh - "Don't Pay the Ferryman"
Billy Thorpe - "Children of the Sun"
Wall of Voodoo - "Mexican Radio"

It's not my fault. Someone mentioned music... Oh, there's so many more, but I have an appointment.
