I am sorry, this is a VERY noobish question, but how do I know how many pictures the film can hold. I have neevr used film before and I was jsut curious. It doesn't say on the box or anything. Does all film take the same amount of pictures? I feel embarrassed asking this question but, I guess it has to be asked somewhere.

It should say somewhere on the canister. Read the small print (if i remember correctly check along where the film disappears into the canister.)

then you have 24 pictures (as a matter of fact, a few more: normally every canister of 35mm film gives you a couple of extra pictures).

You can also get 35mm in 12 exp rolls. A favorite of old ladies I've noticed. ;) When I worked at a lab we didn't stock 12 exp rolls, and the old ladies would get bent with me because they had to buy 24 exp rolls.

How many exposures on 120 film depends on format. Usually it's
6x4.5 16 exp
6x6 12 exp
6x7 10 exp
6x9 8 exp
6x12 6 exp
6x17 4 exp???

With 220 it's usually twice as many as 120.
