I recently purchased a rather inexpensive wide angle lense on ebay(after buying it, I read something detailing how cheap wideangles with decent appetures aren't any good unless you get a real quality expensive one).

I guess later on in life I shall get an expensive wide angle lense, but for now, I just need for figure out what size filters it uses, now the screw mount is quite a bit larger than the 52mm my 50mm, and 35-70mm uses, and still much bigger than my 135mm's 55mm ring.

The lense in question is an vivitar 28mm f2.5 non-ai.

Markings around the lense are "AUTO Vivitar WIDE-ANGLE 28mm 1:2.5 No.22205427"

edit: its a for a nikon, if that helps?

anyone know what size filters this thing needs??

There should be something on the front of the lens somewhere that has a number with a circle and a slash through it. That denotes the filter size.

Or the back of the cap. If in doubt just pop along to your nearest shop and they'll tell you straight away. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything.

I have a Vivitar 28mm 2.5 screw mount. It has a lens hood attached to it (I believe it is permanently attached). Mine uses a 72mm filter.

very awesome of you! thanks, it should be the same

I bought it with no lense cap, and there is no other markings than shown, off of ebay, and it apears to be in good condition.

Also, I am not near any photography shops, so I was gonna get a filter and lense cap from B&H or someplace.

again, thanks a dozen guys.
