Filters and Wideangle/macro lenses 52mm or 55mm for Panasonic FZ8

Dear readers,

I have a Panasonic FZ8 (non DSLR) camera. This camera has 52 mm thread. From Panasonic an adapter can be bought for using 55 mm filters and wideangle and macro lenses from Panasonic. However, these are very expensive.

From Raynox I could buy more affordable additions however on their site an adapter should be bought for 52 -> 55mm for the Panasonic FZ7 (which is compatible to FZ8).

However, since I already have 52 mm thread, why couldn't I just buy any 52 mm adapter, converter, filter (or whatever)? Or is such a 52 -> 55 mm adapter really necessary?

No, you don`t need the so called stepping ring if you can get the filters and stuff for a 52mm thread. If you can`t get the right diameter then you buy what ever stepping ring you need.

Thanks for the answer ... I guess I can buy a 52 to 55 mm ring and use then 55 mm lenses too ... Right?
