Not to get off topic again, but where in the world did you buy a $50 UV filter? I may be stupid, but when I bought my camera, with the kit 18-55mm lens, I bought a digital UV filter (Quantam) for $20. Is this really cheap? Or is someone else just paying too much? Sorry... I'm still ignorant on a lot of issues.
There is a saying that you get what you pay for! But seriously, cheaper glass, whether it be a lens or a filter, is often made from reject glass. The glass that is flawed for whatever reason doesn't go onto the best lenses or optics, that glass is often sold or used to make cheaper products. I know people are going to hate me for saying this but a lot of the glass you guys are shooting with is reject glass:shock: But the same is said for well known products, not just the cheaper brands. A lot of tiffen filters are reject glass. Im sure Canon and Nikon even have lenses with reject glass.
