First and last ice of 2004 in December. Welcome to Alabama.
(In both senses).
It is a bit small - could have been larger to appreciate it better.
What has brought about those stripes in the ice, I wonder?
It's a bit like the rings in trees, each day the ice melts during the sunny day, and refreezes during the night. There are layers where water and evaporation have changed the density, opacity etc of the ice.
A great shot, capturing "Nature" without being cliched. I really like it.
