First close ups!

Greetings all! I have always enjoyed photography, but this is my first foray into anything other than basic snapshots. Both pictures were taken with my non-SLR digital. No aftermarket lenses or filters. All criticism, suggestions, and opinions are welcome! I hope the pictures aren't overly large.

First is of a few synthetic stones, taken probably ten minutes after I found the "macro" setting on my camera.

The second is about twenty minutes after I found the feature, walked right out beside my driveway and took a few bee pics. This is my favorite.

I like the second one, the bee is for the most part nice and sharp.

With the first picture, if you could use like a whiter background? the colours would probably stand out more.

If that 1st one was shot on white paper (or something white) you need to use custom white balance.
