I took these over new year at a music festival I was at. Lots of opportunity for taking photos, except mostly I was more concerned with dancing and haviong a good time than taking photos!

Anyway, these 3 were taken on my 40d with 200mm f2.8L, C&C is welcomed.

well I'll try to help you. This is Canon glass, yes? It doesn't look too sharp to me. Did you focus on their eyes?

I can't see the vibrant colour that I was expecting......

pretty uninspiring. But I guess are too polite to say. Hence the 155/0

Can you pull some EXIF data about shutter speeds etc?

Fair comments - thanks for the honesty. I think partly the softness is because these are hosted on facebook, which probably sucks. Looking at them closer now they are a lot softer than I remember them looking. I will upload the originals to flickr when I get home from work and see if makes a difference.

Otherwise, I would say that it would be more focus than shutter speed as a possible contributor - I can't recall the exact settings but I know the second two were at f2.8 and it was daylight, so should have been upwards of 1/200 I would think (depending on ISO obviously).

    Here is the exif data:

    #1:
    50mm (EF 50mm 1/8 II)
    ISO 400
    f/7.1
    1/160

    #2:
    200mm (EF 200mm 2.8)
    ISO 200
    f/2.8
    1/320

    #3:
    200mm (EF 200mm 2.8)
    ISO 200
    f/2.8
    1/500

Looks like it is definitely not shutter speed that is the issue, and looking at the photos on my hard drive now, they don't look any sharper so I guess it was just my focusing that sucks. I can't remember, but I may have been manually focusing on some or all of these.
