First DSLR recommendations?

Hi all,

So here's my first post in the forum

I would love to buy my first DSLR and start taking some great photos, but with such a vast amount of cameras to choose from and different websites giving mixed reviews I'm really quite lost.

My budget would be around £400 - £500 and ideally would like the camera to have a good standard of video with a mic input as an added bonus.

Can anyone recommend any cameras?

Welcome. Your question has been beaten to death except for the video question. There is not a lot of video talk around here. For the money you want to spend (I don't really know how it converts) but I would suggest looking at the Canon T2i. It has a mic input but manual audio gain. This can easily be accomplished by free software that is readily available. This camera is well received in the video world and it can take a great picture too.
