First night shots

This is a shot i took with mal last night, we both just hit the road see what we would find, not to happy with it but since i really havent done that much photography i figured i may aswell get some responses to this... see if im going in the rite direction?

I like the brightness of the lights. Did you use a tripod and shutter release????

no tripod, i left with the intension of using one but forgot it oops so freestyled it. I used a 3 second exposure with flash, flashed the trolley rack the waved the cam over some lights close by the get the trails..... first time i tried anything like that, gives the effect of movment within the city ?! kinda
