First Shots w/ New Lens C&C Very welcome

I took a few shots with my new lens, its a zuiko 50mm 1:2 2.0f Macro lens that I got for a steal ($200). Now, I am nowhere near as good as many of the even beginner photographers on here so bear with me, and feel free to share with me on how to make my pictures better.

Tell me if the photos are too big.

Put the lens on a smaller aperture like between f/2.8 to f/8.

I love the 1st one! I do not care for the dirty rose or the other that much.

I think the first one would be great if the brush handle wasn't out of focus.
