First shots with my new "Nifty Fifty"

And it is nifty. I got my 50mm f1.8 today and so far I love it. Here are 2 of my favorite shots I took with it today. Any comments or critique are welcome and appreciated

excellent pictures! the 50mm f/1.8 is my preferred lens of choice for quick "grab and go" as i like to call em' pictures.

Interesting depth of field on the apple picture, but what really grabs my attention are the warm colors. the composition is beautiful as well.

What a handsome man! you've clearly mastered the number one rule of portrait photography, show the subject through their eyes. Great composition, crisp, clear shot.

Speaking of 1st picture. Where were you focusing on?
NF should be amongst SHARPEST lenses out there and yet apples seem soft. Like the dof in second image. :thumbup:

The soft focusing was a mistake on my part, but after I uploaded the picture to the computer I liked it. I think it has an almost painterly feel. Thanks for the feedback!
