Flash for F-1

I'm looking for a "potato masher", e.g Canon 577G, etc. flash and came across a 577G on E-bay. Any feedback on this unit. Also it's listed with a Transistor Pack G and Canon Ni-CD Pack TP. What exactly is the Transistor Pack?
