I would like to purchase the Canon 580EX flash and am confused.

When browsing B&H's site, it lists several different 580's. I take it the one "coming in May" is the new version ? Is it substantially better than the older version? Worth waiting a few more weeks and the price difference?

Thanks,
Bev

Canon says the Speedlite 580EX II:

Approx. 20% faster recycling time compared to 580EX
Superior build quality, including a metal foot for higher rigidity
Max. Guide No. 58 at 105mm setting (GN 190, feet)
Auto conversion of flash coverage with compatible digital SLR cameras
White Balance info communicated instantly to compatible digital SLR cameras
Full swivel, 180° in either direction
AF-assist beam, compatible with all AiAF points on every EOS SLR
Dust and water resistance to match the EOS-1D Mark III

The search I linked to above on B&H isn't showing the same thing I saw yesterday. More than one was labled with the "II", with at least $100 price difference.

I've been eye-balling these for awhile and the $499 price is new (and much higher) to me, yet I'm pretty certain I've been looking at the units with the "II" in their name. Did anyone else see this?

Bev
