Flash units?

I'm looking into buying a dedicated flash to go with my Nikon N80. I currently have an old cheap Vivitar flash that does the job but not well. I'm looking for a flash that is going to last and I'll be able to use as I move up in photography. I've heard the Nikon SB 28 is the best and I've seen a lot on ebay but what would you suggest?

I am not a Nikon user, but I have read good things about most of the Nikon flashes. If you can find an SB 28 in Ex condition it would be my choice.

the sb 28 is an old flash. i would recomend the sb-80dx which replaced it or else the new SB-600 or SB-800 those both have expanded compatibility wit hthe new digital slr's incase u ever switch.
