Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Soooo, can someone please tell this dummy how to post pics on here from flickr? Have some I want to share and I really hate photobucket.

Well, you need the URL. To the immediate left of the URL , post

Then, type or paste in the URL of the picture, which must end with .JPG

and then after the .JPG, type in

That ought to do the trick! I always like seeing your photos cailinp.

Click on the picture you want to post.

Click on the 'All Sizes' button above the picture.

You should be looking at this screen now:

Select the size you want (at the top), then copy the link I have highlighted.

Paste that inside of the 'IMG' tags. It should look like this:

Soon, Flickr will be changing the layout though - so it will be a little different when that happens...

My Flickr looks different than that, but I see what I was doing wrong now!! Thanks!

Youre probably using the "take me to the future" version of Flickr. I guess they are going to be making some changes. The new version preview doesnt seem to support posting yet.

They have announced changes, indeed, and I find that several linked photos show as "currently not available" on here, which is a nuisance, as I'm paying them MONEY to have me photos stored there AND to link them from there!

Cailinp, I have to sort of "manually link" mine, to, in the way Derrel and O|||||||O are describing, with actively typing out the
at the end. I found that using the forums "Insert Image"-button does NOT work with Flickr-URLs.

The insert image button still works for me, even though there is a new format. I usually right click and then select Copy Image URL.

I just switched from FF to GoogleChrome. I find that FF displayed my images instantly, but GC doesn't display them until I post the message.

what ive done when posting an image from flickr, is:

1) go to the photo in question,
2) click actions above the photo, and
3) go to "see all sizes" or something like that.
4) Select the Med or Large image - should be around 1024x720 or something around there.
5) Once loaded, right click the image and select "copy link location".
6) In the dialog box in the forum for replying or starting a new thread, hit the "Insert Image" button, and paste the link you just copied from flickr.

Ta-da!

This is how it will work when the changes are final. Right now (assuming you're still using the old interface), the 'all sizes' button is right above the picture - no separate menu you have to go through.

Other than that extra button you have to push, nothing will change whenever they make the update final.

I'm still using the old version - I'd rather wait till all the bugs are worked out before I start using the new one...

I'm using the new one.......it sucks!! I have a hard time posting pictures too.

I tried it for like 5 minutes, and there was a lot of stuff that didn't work.

I'm sticking with the old layout until I HAVE to change, lol.

Speaking of updates I don't like - WTF is up with the new Firefox update? It's maxing out my CPU, lol.

If it doesn't stop soon, I'm going to have to switch back to Opera or Safari...

Try this.... Grab the link from the "Grab HTML" link in the "Share This" button. "Share this" is found above the picture. So far, this is the only way I've been able to research.

Grab the bolded area, make sure NOT to include the quotation marks. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/bahandigabuna/4802695977/" title="Day 197 - Colours! by bahandigabuna, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/4802695977_b534b80602.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="Day 197 - Colours!" /></a>
