I've been taking quite a few pics of this Great Blue Heron that's feeds near my work place and I have tons of the usual poses......so I made it a point to try to fill my card with flight shots and came out with some that I was satisfied with. I was quite surprised how patient he was with me even as I stalked him across a soccer field :)

All images were shot in RAW, touched up in photoshop adjusting curves and using the channel mixer to liven up the colour, USM added where needed and cropped for composition.

I had hoped that the head was in focus here but when viewing it I saw that it wasn't. I still found it an interesting pose, something a little different.

This particular shot again isn't the sharpest, I think it was more due to hand shake, but I thought the wingspan was quite cool.

Oh, these are 10 lovely heron-in-flight photos!
I like Photo 8 best of all, heron with fish!
But some of the others have some really nice backgrounds, too, like 6 and mostly 7!

Funny to see the feet in focus in 6 - you are right: while it did not come out the way you wanted, it still is an interesting perspective!!!

Thanks Lafoto your comments are always encouraging :)

Thanks guys, I think on the other shots I should have used a wider DOF but oh well, I know for next time.
