    He would know what these are. I saw these birds for the first time tonight in the Whitby Harbour. They were fishing and would dive from about forty feet up and vanish below the surface of the water. Did not get any good pics of them so I will have to go back.

    Wouldn' this be a gannet once more? Like the birds that my sister photographed on Heligoland when she was there?

    Only, of course, you are among the few who manages to capture them in flight, beautifully lit, against a perfectly blue sky as background - and with sharp pictures, too!

    Nice, Like the hightlights on the wings. I had not seen one of those birds either when I lived down south.

    They maybe black headed gulls.

    they are similar to those in Whitby North Yorkshire , England.
