nothing is certain except that you cannot win if your not in the game.

Alright, I'll bite.

A few years ago I was very active on the forum, and very active in photography. I started on this forum as a beginner, learned a mint, acquired an arsenal of photographic equipment and formed a full fledged addiction.

Then I got married. Overnight I had a wife, 2 kids and three extra pets. Immediately photography took a back seat and family life began. Bills popped up and many of my lenses fell victim to the weighing of options.

Fast forward to a month ago. My neices have started to come to the age where Senior Pictures are inevitable. Since I have 6 neices (from 2 sisters) all about a year apart, I figured dusting off the camera and saving my sisters a few (thousand) dollars would be a good use of my learned skills. Since that first sitting photography has rekindled itself towards the top of my hobby list and I'm remembering why such a strong addiction was formed to begin with.

I'm not saying I'm going to go pro as a senior photo specialist, or in any other capacity, but I love the hobby and try to explore it in a more left brained aspect whenever I can. Funny thing is that the right brain makes an appearencr every now and again as well.

Fast forward even further to a couple weeks ago and I find myself financially crippled by surprise medical bills when my oldest kid was admitted inpatient twice, and now in a long term inpatient facility. I'm glad he is there so he can get the attention he needs, but now more than ever I need the mental distraction of a creative outlet to help keep my mind in check. This has made the holes in my glass range from the previous liquidation very obvious.

At this time I have a Nikon D7000, a nifty fifty (1.8), a Tamron 17-55 and a nikkor 180mm2.8.

Some fast quality glass in the 35-70ish range would nicely fill a gap and prove to be very useful in developing a full head of steam with my rediscovered shutterbug.

How's that?

huh.
I could use it for my 7100 all I have for choices in that range now are a fifty and the 18-140. I definitely need more glass. way it is looking right now I may end up doing this for a living too so I need to start getting my gear issues together. LOL!

ok... that's it!

Since I joined tpf, I'm reading all this and no one is sending anything in Europe!!!!

How about a postcard!?

I mean, really!

*glad you're back, glad you're doing this again ;)

well, shipping to Wonderland presents a unique set of problems that we have, thus far, been unable to resolve.
Their only postal carrier is a white rabbit, and while seemingly obsessed with on time deliveries, always seems to be "late" to pretty much everything. The front counter is handled by two brothers who constantly contradict each other, thus completely hindering any progress, and the postmaster, Absolem, refuses to let us sign for our packages, insisting on asking "who are you?" even after I show him two forms of ID. I believe he has been coming to work stoned.
I wont even mention the debacle in the sorting department....or why they insist on painting all of the packages red.

so...apologies Maria....
but until that little hole-in-the-wall post office of yours can get itself a little better organized, (and lower their shipping rates) im afraid wonderland is just a little out of our donation reach.

This was great Jason, thanks for the laugh!

I suggest you to try sending a postcard with a picture of a lens, or a camera bag or a camera or... whatever...
;)

or not... I'll still like you two

Glad the bag is working out for you man.
The wife has been doing more sewing than photography lately, and if we get the contract we are bidding on for some fabrication, it will be as much as a $30k over 6 months deal. Will probably put the whole photography thing on the back burner for a while.

And me sitting here with my little Cannon! LOL
You and you your wife are very kind!!!

But I could use a adaptor ring, so I will toss my hat in the ring!
I have a Canon T3i, with a 70-300mm and a 18-55mm kit lenses. I know it's Nikon, but never hurts to post! :)

:icon_thumleft: to your generosity.

Fairly new to forum

Nikon D7100 (bought body only)
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Nikon 105mm 2.8 (manual focus)
Tamrom 70-200mm 2.8

Recently (2 months) started shooting for the local newspaper.
I've shot football, volleyball, and soccer. (basketball pretty soon)

The 70-200mm is often too long for what I've been shooting indoors.
The 50mm often too short.
The 105mm with manual focus, I have to pretty much focus on a spot and wait.

I believe that lens would help alot for the indoor sports.

Thanks for your consideration.

PS : Assuming it would auto focus on D7100, but I'm not sure.

I have a D200 and a D5200. I have 2 lenses that might be in the shop for an extended amount of time. 55-200 AF-S VR and 18-105 AF-S VR. I am basically down to my kit lens on the D5200 and a 55-300 AF lens on the D200. This lens could help me open the door with portrait work being my other lenses only open up to 3.5 max.

Canada is eligible?? Yahoo!

I don't have a chance but throwing my hat in anyways. I'm fairly active on the board, own a Nikon d7100 and am now learning very hard how to do some portrait stuff. I've been reading everything I can and checking every post on portraits here.

I would give this lens such a good home, and it would be so well loved and used.

I love my tamron 270, but it sucks in low light. As I don't have a light set up yet, just one off camera flash that I'm also trying to learn, this lens would be perfect. I just don't have the cash to upgrade.

As always you and your wife are extremely generous and I'm grateful.
Well, the wife decided we had to start including her home country in our donations.
what we did was look at shipping costs. Normally we ship USPS priority flat rate...not the cheapest option even localy. It turns out that we can ship plain old first class to Canada for about the same price as priority shipping in the U.S. So...we now will ship donations to Canada, it will just take longer to get there than if we shipped priority in the states.

On the plus side, it opens up our donations to our northern neighbors.

All righty folks...
Just getting into the second shift of my two day EMS bender...gonna be another long 24 hours.

Hasn't been as much interest in this as I had originally thought there would be.
Too old maybe? Not a great focal range? Poor timing? Maybe everyone just has better glass.

Anyway, I am in discussion with the board (the wife) about this donation...whether we should keep running it, and if so, for how much longer.

Might end this as early as this weekend, so if you have been on the fence about putting in for this, nows the time.
Might not get another opportunity like this for a while.

Sunday bump!
looks like we may have to wrap this one up soon.

Sunday lunch time Bump!!!
