I hear of a lot of people here who have freelance photo jobs on the side. What kind of jabs are these? where can i find info on how to get freelance work in the southern california area? thanks.

I havent really got free lance work...but its best to just ask alot of people...and do alot of work for free I think....Shutterbug is the best person to ask on this.
