Galaxy Windmill

Nice shot.

The exposure was long enough that most of the stars are elongated into short star trails.
The elongation from exposure time length is more pronounced the higher in the sky stars are.

Down closer to the horizon the stars are elongated from an optical aberration known as coma and are kind of teardrop shaped.

Yep Areed! This was 25 seconds at 21mm f2.8. I forgot my cable release and opted for the longer 25 seconds over the 20 seconds built in to the time. I probably should have errored the other direction. I think using the 500 rule 23 seconds might have been just right.

Very nice. Too bad about the lights on the horizon, but sometimes they cannot be avoided.
