Getting seen

I am a new photographer and would like to get some of my work displayed in area galleries. Does anyone have any ideas for me to get gallery owners to provide me some space?

Why not ask the gallery manager/owner what they are looking for and how they select artists? It really, really doesn't matter what we think; since they are the ones you need to impress.
