Jim Backus (Mr Howell) died in 1989 of pneumonia, Alan Hale Jr.(Skipper) in 1990 of respiratory failure due to cancer, and Natalie Schafer (Mrs. Howell) in 1991 of cancer. Russell Johnson (The Professor) is still kicking and will be 81 in November.
