GOD I hate pushy salesmen!

There was a thing on TV here last year that said statistically if something goes wrong with a product it usually happens in the first year, when the product is still under the manufacturer's warranty. So extended warranties are normally a waste of money.

Also, under 'The Sale and Supply of Goods Regulations, 2002' (UK)

"You have the legal right to:
Choose repair, replacement, partial or full refund or compensation if a fault appears within 5 years and it is reasonable for goods to last the long."

A camera should last 5 years at least I recon.

Also if your good is faulty at the time of purchase:
"If you complain within 6 months the retailer must prove that the goods were OK"
"If you complain after six months you have to prove the good was faulty"

This info is on a consumer advice leaflet provided by the Citizens Advice Bureau.

I have found that having a good working relationship with your camera store is important. Knowing the salespeople, and the sales people knowing you. If something goes wrong, I have never had an instance where they didn't help me out and make it right. They know that I will be back when the newest 1600 DSLR comes out, or to buy my 300 2.8 lens.
