Heya all,

What's a good, all inclusive photog book? I was looking the other day, and all of them are very general, looking at a digital camera for the first time buyer. One which deals well with portraits would be great!

Well, if you want a buyers guide to help in the purchase of a digital camera all you need is the web. If you want a book on digital camera operation then the only book that would really apply would be the manual for that particular camera. If you want image editing info you need the program specific information for what program you are using. Otherwise the "photog" books will be very general because they have to be, can't include such huge amounts of info.

The basics of photography haven't changed in the last 50 (or 100) years. So older books might be a good option. May be easier if you don't have to sort through all the digital B.S. that fills the magazines and newer books.

Going from memory, I think that Kodak's 'Joy of Photography' has been published in many versions over the years. Might be a good place to start.
