got a hold of a 17-50mm f2.8...and tried out a 30mm f1.4

finally.....i bought the tamron 17-50mm f2.8.....i'm not sure how good it is compare to the one from nikon.....but i must say the image quality by this lense is good.....unfortunately i dont have any sample photo i can put up at the mement as i bought this lense on friday and use it right away on a friend's wedding on saturday.......havent got a chance to screen the 500 photos i took......they were all in RAW......man......i can see this is going to be hell of a workload......

as a side note.......i was using my friend's Sigma 30mm f1.4 as well.....that is such a sweet piece of prime lense.....priced at $599 CAD....but it is amazingly sharp......turn it down to f2.8....the image is sharper than my tamron f2.8....but when both turn to f5.6 at 30mm having the same frame........then you dont really see much difference.........but again....30mm f1.4 at $599.....this is truly worth paying for if you want top notch sharpness.....
