Got a new lens, cant figure out how to control DOF.

Thanks, but I was on manual when changing the f-number.

I think I went from 2.8 to like 62 or 64? And dont think I saw a difference. This was done with the lens locked to 32.

At F64 your dof would be nearly infinite, from just in front of the lens to infinity.

You must be doing something wrong... Double check everything. I don't care what lens it is, there should be a noticeable difference between f/2.8 and f/64.

Yeah I put lens on camera, lock to highest f number on the lens by where it attaches to body. It locks onto 32.


I just hate having such a small dof..I saw many people who had pics that were extremely focused in everywhere, just go into flickr and search "Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro" and there should be some examples.

Then look at mine in my link, only top 4 I think are with the sigma, and there the BEST of the BEST out of 400 pics I took, which they all were very badly ruined by small DOF.

I really honestly think that you need to raise the f-number and stand further away from what you want a pic of.

Yeah that helps, but I mean for 1:1 or close to 1:1
