Greetings from a Kansas Dude

I suppose it's recommended for one to introduce one's self, so here goes.

I'm not quite sure how I'd rate my photographic skills. Advanced amateur might describe it best. I grew up using a 35mm SLR back before complete auto exposure was available. I was a film guy until digital pocket cameras became popular.

I switched to a pocket camera for the convenience factor, though I lamented the lack of creative control they offered. I tried to pick cameras that offered some manual control of exposure, though even those didn't give me the quite the control I wanted.

This Christmas I finally saved up enough money to buy myself a used DSLR and I'm having fun relearning the finer points of photography.

Congratulations on getting a DSLR Similarly I shot a point and shoot for a long time, and felt so limited by it. I was so excitied when I got a DSLR, it's after that my passion for photography grew in leaps and bounds.
