Grip Problems

I have a Rebel XTI, and I just bought a grip (from an individual) and it will power the camera, but the controls wont work. The switch is set to the "on" position. anyone ever have this, or have any ideas?

If the switch on the side is set to show the red dot meaning power on it should all work

I'm guessing the grip doesn't say canon on it, does it?

Wouldnt have bought anything else, switch...

Its set to on, but I was hoping I missed something somewhere....
