Thanks for the advice about the guns, gun locks, gun safes.

For those who are interested, dementia is a term of art and it does not always mean acting out in some way. Many people with dementia have memory loss, inability to form memories, inability to recover words, inability to speak or understand and a panoply of other issues including, in some, behavioral problems. In Alzheimers, Frontotemperal Degeneration, Lewy Body Disease (Robin Williams) and others the central nervous system defects are caused by deposition of material in the neurons which causes them to stop functioning; generally the diseases are untreatable and the person eventually proceeds to death.

Okay folks, let's keep this to the topic at hand. There is no need for posting regarding your personal belief about whether firearms are good, bad or indifferent and none will be tolerated.

Thread's closed. The OP's question has been asked and satisfactorily answered. No need to keep it open.

Please note: We have guidelines at TPF about various *hot button* topics. In this instance, we have this one: *While images containing firearms depicted for the sake of art are permitted, discussion of firearms and related politics is not. Like politics and religion, it is another “hot button” topic that can lead to inflammatory discussion. Such discussion posts will be removed by the moderating team.

I hope this illuminates our position regarding this topic, for those posters whose comments were reported and subsequently removed. Thanks!
