Had my eye on this for a while...

I think what really adds to the first is the grass leading up to the house. Shoot away this weekend and try some different angles from the ground to excentuate the features.

I agree, go again and try different angles.

The reason I suggested that crop was because I think the foreground actually distracts from the composition. Between the foreground and the sky there is too much going on.
 
Wow! So many variations here..... I think I'd prefer leaving some of that foreground in (referring to Voodoo's crop). And sometimes the rule of thirds can be broken, in this case the house was framed by the trees on either side and bottom weighted with some foreground, so that crop was fine by me. And the power lines didn't particularly bother me, either.

If you're going to shoot it again, it wouldn't hurt to put the house towards the right of the frame. Try several angles! :)
