Hawk takes down Squirrel

    The pose of the second shot gives it the edge, I think. Poor dinner though :-(.

    Red Shouldered Hawk(thanks eric) to me might not be, great shots! what lens?

    Very impressive sight to capture - and well captured - not easy when he was hiding in the tree with his kill!
    Did you stay longer and catch him eating his kill? Looks like if he ate it there you would have been in a good position to get some shots

    I was able to get within 30 feet of him, but he wouldn't eat due to my presence. I think he felt nervous with me so close. i tried to move in even closer but he took off deeper into the tree.

    I've been able to see this once while out taking photos but I wasn't able to close enough to get a pic. Whether you have more luck or skill than me doesn't matter, you have an excellent photo. Great capture!! (you, not the hawk)
