HDR Tutorial

I was reading Popular Photography & Imaging today (the April 2007 issue). There is an article on how to use the HDR plug in in CS 2. I thought it was cool to see this technique gaining in popularity.

I've been using photomatix, but tried CS2 today and was quite pleased with the results.

With the photomatix, quite often I get a surreal effect, which is fine sometimes. The CS 2 produces a more realistic looking HDR and is easier for me to work with RAW images.

You can get the very similar results with Photomatix if you play around with the sliders and you can get the 'cartoony' look with CS2 if you process it a certain way.

In Photomatix if you turn the Micro Smoothing right up and keep Luminosity around 0 you will get a much more subtle results than the defult settings.
