    Just wanted to say hello.

I´m not very new to photography... I learned with a Canon AE-1 many years ago, but I forgot most of what I learned. Now I´m shooting digital:

    Canon T1i
    Sigma 18-200mm
    Canon 35mm f2.0

    Cheers,
    Carlos

    Hello!

Glad you are getting back into it for a hobby. Always seems to help people pay more attention to their surroundings. :)

Thanks. We do have a lot of natural beauty... bu you do have to be aware of your surroundings. It is not the safest place in the world.

Yes, we went down with a medical team and had some guides, so we were pretty sheltered, and relatively safe. There were a few sketchy moments in the villages, that showed me how quickly things could get "un-safe".

But even in the middle of the poverty and wounds of the last 20 years, the people's resiliency is amazing. The ability to cope with their surroundings and challenges, amazed and humbled me.

I was so taken by the country that after taking pictures there with my point and shoot, I came home and immediately bought a DSLR - so I would never miss an opportunity to truly capture moments like that again.
