Hello from Pittsburgh

Hello everyone, I am obviously new here. I have been taking tons of pictures over the past 8 years or so with decent point and shoots. I am looking into trying to make a career or side cash from doin something I do all the time anyway, taking pictures. I joined here to see what my options are: go to college, online degree, apprenticeship, or buy professional photography books and self learn. I have been told that I could sell pics I take now, but i'd like to get a professional camera and learn to use it to the fullest.

Sorry if I went on too long for this thread, but thats why i'm here. Any ideas or info you may have is appreciated. I will also do research myself in this forum, since I know most questions are already answered somewhere.
