Hi! I received my first "real" camera for christmas, a Nikon D5200, so now I obviously need to know everything about photography and how cameras work. I know that I'm going to at various points hit questions which search engines fail to answer, so I am joining up preemptively. I'm also looking forward to taking part in the photo challenges, since having something to aim at is always helpful.

First piece of advice. Sit down with your camera and it's manual and read it cover to cover getting to know the dials and buttons. Then re-read it 2x more. Spend time reading on here, watching video's and looking at photos.

It's a journey that won't be completed today, tomorrow or next year. Stick with it and have fun..
