When I'm shooting a wedding sometimes during the reception ill use the quick burst shots to catch all the crazy moments. My flash has a hard time keeping up so I'm wondering is this normal. Some pictures will almost be black within that burst set. I am a rookie photographer to be honest so my initial thought is the shutter speed is going too fast and its not possible for the flash to go that fast. Can anyone give me any tips?

Every flash has some recharge time. You can't shoot 50 photos and expect your flash to keep up. Which flash unit do you have exactly?

I have the Nikon d90 and the SB600

Should be around a 3.5 second recycle rate (faster than the SB-800)

Two things you can do for faster recycle:
1. Turn flash output down
2. Attach an external battery pack
