I'm using a Pentax K1000, and I want to buy a zoom lens for it. My camera takes a 50mm diameter lens, but most of the used lenses I’m seeing listed online are either larger or smaller than this. Now I’ve read that all pentax k mount lenses and k-mount cameras are compatible, but does this apply to the size variation as well?

there's no difference in diameter. How'd you even find out the diameter anyways?

Just use the k-mount lenses and you'll be fine.

    Welcome to the forum

I'm guessing that the 50mm you are seeing on your lens...is the filter thread diameter (or possibly the focal length) not the mount. As mentioned, it's a K mount, so any lens with a K mount will work.
