Help with MIX image file

I have 3 old digital photos saved on my computer that were taken back around 2002. They are a MIX file format and I am unable to open them. I think they were taken with an old Sony Mavica camera. Can anyone help me with this? I would be glad to email the 3 photos to someone that could convert them to JPeg and then send them back.

A simple web search of ".MIX file format" will return a good deal of info.

Digital photos, or other bitmap images, with a .MIX extension were probably created in or last edited in Microsoft's "Picture It" software. Very few programs other than Picture It and MS Word can read the files. For Word to be able to read them you have to do a custom install and opt to install the import filter for the format since Word doesn't install it by default.

Getting decent bitmaps out of MS Word is a challenge. If you can install your old copy of Picture It you should be to do a decent job.
