I've always loved photography and have decided to start a side business doing youth sports photography. What websites to you guys recommend for me to use to upload photos and enable my customers to buy online?

You'll get lots of recommendations for different sites that allow you to host and sell images.

They make you look amateur. Period. If you're okay with that, then by all means..

If not, get your own website and gallery/sales system.

    smugmug.com seems great...
But...a class in html/css and perhaps some javascript would go a long way if you ask me. I'm currently working on my own website, and doing the code myself. Worth it to be able to do any type of layout you want.
