    looks more like a Pelican to me :(

    nice shots though but a little bit too contrasty for my liking

    Wouldn't those "herons" be called "pelicans" by most? ;) ;) ;)

    These photos are very, very contrasty, indeed. So much so that some detail is even getting lost already. Maybe not quite so much in the first, but that one has too much headroom, I feel.

    Pelicans it is then! :D

    Thank you for the feedback on the contrast, I may need to turn down that style, which I like for other shots, when working with animals.
